Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. We bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions. We provide a range of services and opportunities to help people live as independently as possible. We campaign to improve the quality of life of the people across the UK who live with muscle-wasting conditions.

We are currently looking for a Head of Communications on a fixed term basis of 6/12 months for 3.5 days per week.

The main purpose of the role is:

To support the senior team and senior managers on the development work associated with the implementation of the value proposition/brand development project.

Working effectively across teams, to identify and implement additional, targeted, public marketing and public awareness-raising activities; support our reach and external engagement strategy and provide cross-charity co-ordination and integration of communications activities; reflecting the charity's strategic goals as part of our current three year plan.

Working closely with the Director of Development, to set the overall direction and provide leadership in delivering the charity's integrated strategic and operational plans in relation to communications and external affairs.
