My client is an established, dynamic and profitable global FTSE250 business. Headquartered in the UK and with a network of manufacturing sites around the world, the business produces and sells products into markets ranging from textiles to automotive to general industrial. They are the clear market leaders in their field, growing strongly, and they have a significant advantage on the competition in both size and reach.

The company is currently undergoing a complete global procurement transformation programme, and part of this entails creating a new procurement category management structure, and this has led to the need to recruit a Global Category Manager to take responsibility for all Indirect spend throughout the organisation.

The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategy for Indirect spend as part of the global transformation programme. This will include all Indirect sub-categories. Optimising performance for the business in terms of cost, quality, delivery and responsiveness will depend on improving the procurement structures, the focus and capability of local procurement professionals, and supplier development on a global basis. Striking the right balance between centrally / locally controlled will be key.

This is a highly visible role in a major global plc, with the opportunity to play an instrumental role in transforming procurement practices and performance across the organisation. There is plenty of scope to make a significant difference.

The right candidate will have a strong and demonstrable track record as a Procurement Category Manager / Leader for Indirect spend in a sizeable international organisation. Experience across multiple Indirect sub-categories is key. A track record of driving improvements in strategy and operational performance is desired, as is the ability to switch seamlessly between strategic and operational procurement activities.
